SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship Program Overview
The Hawaii Association of Enviornmental Professionals (HAEP) is dedicated to supporting students across our state by offering a scholarship opportunity each year. The [Sustainability Stewardship Award] is offered to both graduates and undergraduates to assist with their academic pursuits in the environmental field. We are providing a scholarship grant of [$2,000] to the qualified awardee. This scholarship will be awarded in [October] 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Please note that this scholarship is not limited to Oahu residents, all students within the state of Hawai'i are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
​To be eligible for the [Sustainability Stewardship Award], applicants must be full-time students in good academic standing, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited college or university in Hawai'i for the 2024-2025 academic year and maintain full-time status throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. Eligible applicants should be pursuing a major in an environmental field, such as (but not limited to) ecology, botany, fisheries, forestry, geology, geography, environmental science/engineering, environmental planning, impact assessment, natural resource management, or conservation. While a student membership with the HAEP is encouraged, it is not required and will not impact the selection of the recipient.​

Selection
An awardee will be selected based on the aforementioned qualifications and their individual responses to the attached application. If any additional information is needed, the applicants may be contacted by an HAEP representative via email.​

Application Process
​The following should be compiled into a single PDF and submitted on or before the due date. Please refrain from adding any information that is not specified in this list. Any additional information may invalidate the application.

The [Sustainability Stewardship Award] application form with all of the requested information completed.

Responses to the following questions in 2 pages or less in 12-point font, single-sided, 1.5 line spacing, times new roman:

Within half a page, describe your previous experiences and involvement in the environmental field or profession. How have these experiences helped you?

Within a page, describe the type of environmental work you hope to pursue in your future career. Explain why.

Within a page (excluding the separate page for citations), what do you think the current, most pressing environmental issue in the State of Hawaii? Support your argument. This should include a list of references, cited in MLA format on a separate page immediately after.​

A single page resume or CV which includes any work experience, education, and clubs or organizations that may be applicable to this scholarship.

A copy of your transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) which include the classes you are currently registered for.

Applications must be received by 5:00 PM (HST), [October 15, 2025]. A confirmation will be sent to each applicant within 24 hours upon receipt of the application. Awards will be announced on or before [October 31, 2025].​
